What Are Whole Numbers?
Whole numbers are numbers without fractions or decimals — they start at 0 and go upward: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 ...
Place Value
Every digit in a number has a place value. In the number 4,756:

| 4 | Thousands | 4,000 |
| 7 | Hundreds | 700 |
| 5 | Tens | 50 |

Writing a number by showing the value of each digit is called expanded notation.

Large Numbers
In Nigeria, we count large sums of money in millions and billions. Knowing place values helps you read bank statements, budgets and population figures correctly.
💡 Tip: Group digits in threes from the right to read large numbers easily. 1,000,000 is one million.
