What Is Comprehension?

Reading comprehension is the ability to read a passage and understand its meaning — identifying the main idea, key details, vocabulary in context, and the author's purpose.

Read This Passage

Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa, with a population of over 200 million people. It is often called the "Giant of Africa" because of its large economy, diverse culture, and significant influence on the continent. Nigeria has more than 250 ethnic groups, each with its unique language, traditions, and customs. The three largest groups are the Hausa-Fulani in the north, the Yoruba in the south-west, and the Igbo in the south-east.

Despite its challenges, Nigeria is rich in natural resources, particularly crude oil, which accounts for a large portion of government revenue. Agriculture also plays a vital role, with millions of Nigerians farming crops such as cassava, yam, maize, and cocoa. Education and youth empowerment are increasingly seen as key to Nigeria's future development.
