What Is a Verb?

A verb is a word that shows action or state of being.

Examples: run, eat, is, was, become, think

Tenses

A tense tells us when an action happens.

Present Tense

Used for actions happening now or habitual actions.
She reads every day.

Past Tense

Used for completed actions.
They played football yesterday.

Future Tense

Used for actions that will happen.
We will travel to Abuja tomorrow.

Continuous Forms

Show ongoing actions: am/is/are + verb-ing
He is studying for his exams.

Perfect Forms

Show completed actions with relevance to now: have/has + past participle
She has finished her homework.
